5. The Roran Beanie



Hello beautiful people and welcome to day 5!
Today's beanie uses a lovely V stitch to create a nice zigzag pattern. It's fun with one stripe, or with all the v rounds in various colours. Have a play with the colours and see what combinations you can come up with.


You Will Need:
DK/8ply weight yarn in a main colour and a very small amount of a contrasting colour.
4mm hook

Sized To Fit:
34-36 Weeks Gestation

All stitches are in American terms

The starting chain does not count as a stitch in rounds 1-6 or in round 11.

Starting with your main colour
1. Into a magic ring ch3, 8dc, join to first dc. - 8

2. Ch3, 2dc in each stitch around, join to the first dc. - 16

3. Ch3, *2dc in the first stitch, dc in the next stitch*, repeat around, join to the first dc. - 24

4. Ch3, *2dc in the first stitch, dc in the next 2 stitches*, repeat around, join to the first dc. - 32

5. Ch3, *2dc in the first stitch, dc in the next 3 stitches*, repeat around, join to the first dc. - 40

6. Ch3, dc in each stitch around, join to the first dc. - 40

7. Ch4 (first dc and ch1), dc in the same stitch, *skip 1 stitch, (dc, ch1, dc) in the next stitch*, repeat around, join to the ch3. - 20 (dc, ch1, dc) V’s around.

8. Slst into the next ch1 space, ch4, dc in the same space, (dc, ch1, dc) in each ch1 space around, join to the ch3.

9. Change to contrasting colour and repeat round 8.

10. Change to main colour and repeat round 8.

11. Ch1, sc in the same stitch, sc in each remaining dc around, skip all chains, join to the first sc. - 40

End off and weave in tails.

Finished measurements: 12cm (4.7 inches) in total height and 16cm (6.2 inches) in width across the brim.
