Puff Heart

Hello lovelies!

Today's pattern is an adaptation of the flay lay heart from earlier in the month. By making 2 hearts, and adding a new edge, we can put 2 flat lays together with some stuffing to make a more puffy 3D heart! How cute!

Like all heart patterns, you are free to pick your own yarn weight and hook size for these, but being stuffed, I suggest a smaller hook so stuffing doesn't peak through.

Puff Heart

1: Ch2, sc in the 1st ch

2: Ch1, turn, 2sc in the st - 2

3: Ch1, turn, 2sc in each st - 4

4: Ch1, turn, 2sc in the first st, sc in the next 2 sts, 2sc in the last st - 6

5: Ch1, turn, 2sc in the first st, sc in the next 4 sts, 2sc in the last st - 8

6: Ch1, turn, sc in each st across - 8

7: Ch1, turn, 2sc in the first st, sc in the next 6 sts, 2sc in the last st - 10

8: Ch1, turn, sc in each st across - 10

9: Ch1, turn, sk the first 2 sts, 6dc in the next st, sk 1 st, slst in the next st, sk 1 st, 6dc in the next st, sk the next 2 sts, slst in the last st. End off.

Make a total of 4 hearts to sew together.

Place 2 hearts together, wrong sides facing. All stitches in this round will be made through both hearts.

10: Using a contrasting colour, join the yarn at the bottom point of the heart with a slst, (sc, ch3, sc) in the same st to make the bottom point of the heart, sc evenly up the side of the heart for 8 sc, when you reach the dc section of the heart, sc in the first st, 2sc in the next 2 sts, sc in the next 2 sts, slst in the next 4 sts, sc in the next 2 sts, 2sc in the next 2 sts, * stop here and lightly stuff your heart*, sc in the next 8 st, join to the first sc.

Little Blanket Edge Felt Heart

 Morning all!

Today I have another little felt heart project for you. This one is just adorable, being that the finished hearts are only 1.5 inches.

For these hearts you'll need to download the template which is available for download HERE

Follow along with these super easy steps to make your own! I've found this heart looks best when you use a high contrast colour for the thread.

You could also embroider small flowers into the front piece of felt prior to sewing.

You Will Need:

The template from the link above, cut out the 1.5 inch heart

A sewing needle

Some thread

A small amount of stuffing

A small amount of felt

1: Cut out 4 1.5 inch hearts from the felt.

2: Place 2 hearts together and blanket stitch around the outside edge, when you have a small opening left, be sure to push some stuffing inside (a pencil helps here) before you finish sewing.

That's it! It really only has the 2 steps! I told you it was easy. The beauty about these little hearts is they are so easy to customise with colour choice or adding on embellishments like tiny flowers or bows. How creative can you make them?

This pattern is also a great one to introduce children to hand sewing, as the hearts are small enough that they wont need a super long thread to get tangled and can be finished fast, giving them some quick gratification for a job done.

IBGHD 2019 Day 30 Myshelle's Heart Keepsake

Good morning all.

Day 30 is finally here. It's been one amazing month that's for sure. It's been so great to see all of your hats, to see all of the colour combinations and designs and just so much love.

It's always such a funny day, day 30. It's the end of another event, and the lead up to posting day can be quite emotional.

Everyone has done such an amazing job. From our designers and testers right through to every single person that made a hat, shared the posts and spread the news. Thankyou!

To our guest designers this year, Lisa, Nikki, Sue, Mim and Caroline, Thankyou. For your time, efforts and dedication to the hat drive, not just this year as designers, but for the support in previous years too.

To the entire CCP team, and all the testers, thankyou. What an incredibly special bunch of ladies I have supporting me, the hat drive, and the CCP group as a whole. You all rock so much more than you know.

To all of you, who have joined in tirelessly year after year, even the years that have been difficult for me, your support has always been incredible. So many of you have been touched by loss and it just blows my mind how supportive we all are of each other.

Remember to check this page for all the postal addresses if you are sending to one of our official groups this year.

Thankyou for joining me on this journey, and joining in this hat drive. Keep an eye out at MammaThatMakes for future updates on the tally from our groups, and to see photos from everyone's efforts this year. Feel free to email me your photos at myshellecole@gmail.com (put ibghd pics in the subject) and I'll share them on the MTM page too.

Our very last pattern this year is actually not a hat, but a keepsake. In memory of all of my angels, Frankie, Alice, Robin, Sacha, Jesse and Nora. A piece of my heart forever.

5 Petal Flower Keepsake - Free Crochet Pattern

Hello all, gosh it's been a bit!

Behind the scenes has been absolutely crazy lately. Thankfully I've had some time to get a lot of new patterns sorted, and you'll be seeing them over the next few months. Also lots of IBGHD prep, how exciting!

Today's pattern is a simple medium sized 5 petal flower. One of the items Chance's Clothes Project need a LOT of is keepsakes, as they go out in every single pack that gets made. A keepsake is simply a hand or smaller sized soft item that comes in a matching pair. One stays with the family, the other stays with bub. It's something many families appreciate and gives a tactical connection, something that can be held onto.

I've been challenging myself to make 50 keepsake sets, and I've done 12 using this particular pattern. The beauty of using flowers like this is they are easy to make, simple to memorize and use a very very small amount of yarn. In fact each pair uses on average 4g of yarn. You can use any weight of yarn and hook size you like. All the ones I have pictured use various DK/8 ply yarn and a 3.5mm hook.

5 Petal Flower Keepsake

Sweet Robin

If loss stories are too hard for you, please scroll to the bottom of the page for the pattern <3

I didn't think I'd be sitting here, again. Writing these words, again. Feeling so much heartbreak, again.

I wrote back in 2013, about how when we loose a baby, we join a club that noone ever wants to be a part of, but we don't ever get to leave. The Baby Loss Club. It's exclusive, but oh so painful. We're here and yet, we don't want to be. We'd give every ounce of our beings to trade that card in, hand it back, cash in our membership and walk away. We desperately wish we never joined this club.

Sadly, we can't. It's a lifetime gig. Now, I find myself a part of the frequent flyer section, of this horrible club. We lost another precious angel this weekend. We'd been trying to grow our family since we lost Alice this past December, and finally thought our luck was changing. Boy was I wrong. Friday was probably the unluckiest days in my life.

It's a long story. Its traumatic and horrible and cruel. I'm not ready to write it all out yet. Between broken machines and hospital stuff ups, I had one of the most horrible days on Friday that I have ever had. If it wasn't for the support of my best friend and my partner, I don't quite know how I would have made it through.

Having to call my partner and tell him that our baby, who should have been 12 weeks along, had stopped growing at just 9 and had no heartbeat, was right up there on the list of hardest things I've ever had to do.

Coming home to tell my girls, so hard. The words didn't want to come out. They didn't want to form. They have questions that I have no answers to, and probably never will. As a family, our hearts are broken. We've cried so many tears. We are devastated.

Surely you'd think that was enough for one day. Surely the universe can't throw anything else at someone who is already so down? You'd think so, but no. My partner drove my friend back to the hospital that evening to pick her car up (she'd driven me home in ours, I was in no condition to drive) and on the way there our car got ran into. Thankfully everyone was ok, but my poor car will need extensive repairs and will be out of action for a while.

When it rains, it pours, isn't that how the saying goes? Well it sure poured, because to top the day off, both me and Master J ended up with headcolds as well. Just what we needed!

It's been a crappy weekend to follow a shitty Friday. I'm left feeling horrible and broken and angry. I have so much angry to work through right now that I can't even start on working through all the other feelings I have.

Beautiful little Robin. Gone too soon. Joining Frankie and Alice.
I am 1 in 4
I am broken.
