Daint Leaves Headband - Free Pattern

DK weight yarn
4mm hook

However I can see this working easily with almost any yarn and hook size. Thicker yarn will produce wider, longer leaves.

The little leaves are made by doing a dc2tg, only instead of doing it across multiple stitches like you would normally, complete the dc2tg stitch in the same stitch.
dc2tg: yo, insert hook, pull through (3 stitches on hook), yo, pull through 2 (2 on hook), yo, insert hook, pull through (4 on hook), yo, pull through 2, yo, pull through all 3.

1. ch2. In the first chain (sc, ch2, sc)
2. ch1, turn. sl st into the ch space, Into the ch space do (dc2tg, ch3, dc2tg)

Repeat row 2 for the length of the headband
When you have enough length, sl st into the ch3 gap, ch40, sl st back into the gap. One tie complete. End off and weave in tails. To make the tie at the beginning end, join the yarn as a sl st in between the first 2 sc’s and ch40, sl st into the same place. Weave in ends.

Now you can decorate it. I added a small flower to mine.

Chunky Bobble Headband

This headband is made using 2 strands of DK weight yarn held doubled. You could get away with one strand of worsted weight too.

Main and contrasting colours
6mm hook

Bobble: yarn over, insert hook, pull through (3 strands on hook), yarn over, insert hook, pull through (5 strands on hook), yarn over, insert hook, pull through (7 strands on hook), yarn over and pull thought all 7 strands.

Starting with main colour
1. Chain your desired length. Mine was 49ch. Make sure to chain loosely.
2. dc in the 3rd chain from hook and in each chain across. End main colour.
3. Join contrasting colour with a sl st and ch2. hdc in the first 4 stitches *bobble in the next stitch, ch1, hdc in the next stitch* Repeat across till the last 4 (or 5 in the case of odd stitches) and hdc in them. End contrasting colour.
4. Join main colour back at the start (don’t turn the work, the bobbles need to be facing up) and ch3. dc in each hdc and top of bobble across (do not dc in the ch1’s) do not end off.

In the end of the headband (sides of the stitches) *do 2sc in the first dc side, sc into the hdc once, chain 40, sc back into the same hdc side (tie made), 2sc in the next dc side, then work sc’s evenly along the edge of the headband, repeat from * once more to complete the round end off colour. Weave in all ends.

Basic Ribbed Tieback - Free Pattern

Hello lovelies!

Today I have another headband pattern for you (in fact I have a bunch, so Ill have a few days of them for you) Ive been working on a bunch of fun ones for the charity craft challenge. Most of these will be tiebacks so they fit the girl that gets them, and are really easy to adjust sizing.

You will need:
4mm hook
DK weight yarn

1. Chain length needed to fit from behind one ear to the other. (I used 62 for a band to fit my 10yr old.)

2. sc in the 2nd ch from hook and each ch across until the last ch. In the last ch do 3 sc’s.

Do not turn, instead swing your work so you are working on the opposite side of the stitches you just made, into the same chains. sc in each stitch to second last chain, and 3 sc’s in the very last. Join with a sl st to the first sc.

3. This round and all remaining rounds are all stitched in the back loops only: Mark off the first 8 and last 8 stitches at both ends.

*sl st in the first 8 stitches, sc across to the marker for the last 8 and then sl st in the last 8 stitches. sl st in the end 3 stitches* Repeat for the opposite side. Join to the first sl st.

4. *sl st in the first 8 stitches, hdc in each st around to the last 8, sl st in the last 8. sl st into the first 2 end stitches, chain 40, sl st back into the same stitch (will be the middle of your 3 end stitches), sl st in the remaining end stitch* Repeat for the opposite side.
Finish off and weave in all ends.

Scrapbuster Headband - Free Pattern

Good afternoon lovlies.

As I have mentioned recently, Ive been crocheting a lot of items for Angels for the forgotten (caring for kids in care) for their annual charity craft challenge. Ive been giving myself small goals from the list of needed items. Last week I completed 10 scarves. This week I wanted to make some headbands. I had a look online  and while there are some fantastic patterns out there, I decided that there was no reason why I couldn't just make my own up. I wanted something that tied at the back, because I wouldn't know the head sizes of the girls who will be receiving them.

This is the first one, and it is so quick and easy it'll take you maybe 30 minutes to do and only uses small amounts of yarn. Great as a stash buster!

You will need:
4mm hook
DK (8ply) weight yarn in 2 colours

This pattern is worked in multiples of 3 (plus 2 for the first st). The size here will fit 10yrs plus.

1. Chain 62. In the 3rd chain from hook hdc and then ch1. *skip the next ch, hdc in the next chain, ch1.* Repeat across. In the very last stitch (hdc 3 times, ch1, hdc 3 times) ch1.

Do not turn your work, instead work on the opposite side of the stitches you just made, *hdc in the next ch1 space, ch1* Repeat across to the other end, in the last stitch again do (hdc 3 times, ch1, hdc 3 times), ch1, join to the first hdc. End off colour.

2. Join new colour to any ch1 space on a long side (not the ends) and ch3 (counts as first hdc and ch1) *hdc in the next ch1 space, ch1* repeat until you get to the end, in the ch1 space between the 3hdc's from the previous row, (hdc, ch1, sl st) then chain 40. sl st back into the same ch1 gap, ch1, hdc in the same ch1 gap. Continue on doing hdc, ch1 in each stitch along the next long edge. When you reach the next ch1 space between the 3hdc's from the previous row, again do  (hdc, ch1, sl st) then chain 40. sl st back into the same ch1 gap, ch1, hdc in the same ch1 gap. Finish the rest of the long edge with hdc, ch1 in the remaining ch1 spaces and join with a sl st to the 2nd chain of the initial ch3.

That is it. Yup, 2 rows. It is super fast, super easy and as I said, great for stash busting!

Lil Pants - Free Pattern

Hello lovelies! Hope everyone is having a fantastic day today.
Today I have a pattern for a pair of lil pants, male or female. I was originally planning on releasing these a a paid for pattern, but honestly, I have more fun sharing. Perhaps if you like my designs you could click on an advert for me so I can earn a few cents? It would be much appreciated. It would also be great to see more people adding images to Ravelry (or sharing them on my FB page) I like to oogle at the yarns you all use!

Pants are easily adjustable, you just need to know the measurements for the Waist, legs and from bellybutton to crotch.

NOTE::: There will be a small gap in the crotch where the legs split, so just sew that closed when you are done.

Lil Pants 0-3 Months

Special stitches used: Foundation double crochet. For instructions on this stitch please visit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGPkRHF0rUw

Front Post Double Crochet – FPDC
Back Post Double Crochet - BPDC

Supplies:
DK weight yarn (8ply for AUS/UK) in main and contrasting colours.
5.5mm hook
3.5mm hook for tie
US terms used throughout.

With contrasting colour.

1: Using the foundation double crochet method, make 42 dc's, join. This gives the waist a more flexible band then chaining will.

If you are unfamiliar with this technique or choose not to do it, you can chain 44, dc into the second chain from hook and each across, join. Use the tail to close the bottom of the dc join.

2: ch3, * fpdc around the first dc, bpdc around the next dc *, repeat around, join.

3: Repeat round 2.

4: ch1, sc in each stitch around, join. End off contrasting colour.

5: Join main colour. Ch3, dc in each stitch around, join.

6-10: ch3, dc in each stitch around, join.

11: ch3, dc in the next 21 stitches, skip all the rest and join to the top of ch3. One leg hole started.

12-16: ch3, dc in each stitch around, join. At the end of round 16 end off main colour.

17: Join contrasting colour. Ch1, sc in each stitch around, join.

18: ch3, * fpdc around the first stitch, bpdc around the next stitch * repeat around, join.

19: ch1, sc in each stitch around, join. End off contrasting colour. Weave in all ends.

For Second leg.

Join main colour to an un-worked stitch near the centre back of round 10. Repeat instructions from round 11 onwards to create second leg.

To make the tie, using the main colour and a 3.5mm hook chain for 26 inches. Thread the chain under the fpdc's from round 2.

The legs should be around 5.5 - 6 inches long, if you crochet tight then add a few extra rounds for them.
