The Harrison Beanie + The 2015 Itty Bitty Hat Drive

Good morning all and a massive huge welcome!

Today marks the start of the 3rd annual Itty Bitty GIANT Hat Drive . This is such a huge deal for me. It was my little project started in 2013 in the memory of my own Frankie. It has grown in leaps and bounds and last year saw the donation of 1100 hats to Chance's Clothes Project.

This year we're hoping to make it bigger and better then ever! We have a whole bunch of new to share with you. Like the new website! We have a new form you can send off with your parcel, and a new interactive map that will show the location of each donation that comes in for the drive (providing the form is included, so we can lodge you). I also have 30, yes that's right THIRTY brand spankin' new preemie and angel hat patterns. One for each day of September. Each one of these hats has had its name suggested via my Facebook Page, most in memory of loved ones and precious babies. Thankyou to all that suggested names.

We're also encouraging everyone to share photos of their donation hats on social media and hashtag them #ittybittygianthatdrive and sharing the project/patterns/webpage in general. So what are we waiting for? Get making, and here is the first of 30 patterns for September!

13cm across the brim

You Will Need:
3.5m hook
4ply/fingering/weight 1 yarn.
I used King Cole Bamboo Cotton, Wendy Petter Pan and Bella Baby Bambini

1. dc 12 times into a magic ring, join. (12)

With B
2. ch2, dc in the same stitch, 2dc in each stitch around, join. (24)

With A
3. ch2, *2dc in the next stitch, dc in the next stitch*, repeat around, join. (36)

With B
4. ch2, *2dc in the next stitch, dc in the next 2 stitches*, repeat around, join. (48)

With C
5. ch1, sc in the same stitch, *ch3, skip 2 stitches, sc in the next stitch*, repeat around, join.

With A
6. sl st into the ch3 space, (ch2, 2dc) into the ch3 space, *3dc in each ch3 space*, repeat around, join.

With C
7. ch1, sc in the same stitch, *ch3, skip 2 stitches, sc in the next stitch*, repeat around, join.

With B
8.  sl st into the ch3 space, (ch2, 2dc) into the ch3 space, *3dc in each ch3 space*, repeat around, join.

9-12. Repeat rounds 5-8

With C
13-14. ch1, sc in each stitch around, join.

End off and weave in all tails.

CrissCross Pants - Free Preemie Crochet Pattern

Good morning all.

Wow this pattern has been a while in the making. Ive been trying to work up sets lately, because matching sets are just so sweet. These sweet little pants feature alternating rows of cross stitches and hdc's. The repeat is so easy to remember, and the stitch, even though looks a little hard, is super simple to do.

This set will fit around 34/36 weeks gestation. Its a little large on my 32 week doll, but if you went to a 3.5mm you should get close to something that will fit 32 weeks better.

You will need

4mm hook

dk weight yarn (8ply, light worsted, number 3 weight yarn) in a main colour, and a contrasting colour. 

1. ch55, hdc in the 2nd ch from hook and each across, join. (54)

2. ch2, *skip one stitch, dc in the next stitch, dc in the skipped stitch* repeat around, join.

3. ch1, hdc in each stitch around, join.

4-11: repeat rounds 2 and 3

12. repeat round 2

13. ch1, hdc in the first 27 stitches, join. (27) 

14. ch1, *skip one stitch, dc in the next stitch, dc in the skipped stitch*, repeat around, skip the last stitch and join. 

15. ch1, hdc in each stitch around, join. (26)

16. ch2, *skip one stitch, dc in the next stitch, dc in the skipped stitch*, repeat around, join. 

17-24. Repeat rounds 15 and 16.

25. ch1, *hdc in the first 11 stitches, hdc2tg*, repeat once, join. (24)

26. ch1, *hdc in the next 6 stitches, hdc2tg*, repeat around, join. (21)

27. ch1, sc in each stitch around, join.

End off yarn here.

Rejoin yarn to the first unworked stitch from round 12 (Will be in the crotch area) 

Repeat rounds 13-27 to make the second leg.

End off here and weave in all ends. You may have a small gap at the crotch area, go ahead and sew that closed. 

To make the tie, chain 100. Weave in and out of the stitches from the first round.
