Easy Spike Edge Preemie Cap

Good morning everyone!

Today's pattern is one I jotted down last year and forgot  about, whoops! It is a pretty simple little beanie, but it is fantastic for using up that last little scrap of colour.
Designed to fit about 20 weeks gestation and will only take you minutes to make! Great beginner beanie too.

This beanie features the spike stitch, if you are not familiar with this stitch, it is super easy. You just complete the stitch as you usually would but instead of making the stitch in the regular place, you do it in the stitch underneath the one you would usually use.

You will need:
3.25mm hook
8ply/DK/Light Worsted weight yarn in a main and contrasting colour.

1: ch3, dc 10 times in the first chain, join. (10)
2: ch3, 2dc in each stitch around, join. (20)
3: ch3, *2dc in the first stitch, dc in the next stitch* repeat around, join. (30)
4-5: ch3, dc in each stitch around, join.
6-7: ch1, sc in each stitch around, join.
End main colour and join contrasting colour
8: ch1, *sc in the first 2 stitches, sc spike in the next stitch* repeat around, join.
Weave in all ends.
