IBGHD 2019 Day 5 The Olivia Rose Beanie




Good morning all and welcome to day 5. Today's beanie is a bottom up shell stitch design with an easy to remember repeat making it a simple to do project.

Today's beanie is in remembrance of  Olivia Rose.



The Olivia Rose Beanie


Key:
St - Stitch
Ch - Chain
Sk - Skip Stitch
Sc - Single Crochet
Dc - Double Crochet
Hdc - Half Double Crochet
Hdc2tg - Half Double Crochet 2 Together (hdc decrease)

Instructions in * * should be repeated
Starting chain counts as first stitch, and in the end round stitch count.

Sized for: 36-38 Weeks Gestation

Finished Measurements: 16cm across the brim, 12cm from crown to brim, 4.5cm wide band.

Amount Of Yarn Used: 49 Meters/54 Yards/18g of 4Seasons Marvel 8ply.

Hook Size: 4mm

Yarn: DK/8Ply Main Colour for the hat body and Contrasting Colour for the band.

With contrasting colour.


1: ch9, sc in the 2nd ch from hook and each ch across. - 8sc

From here on out for the entire band, work in the back loops only.

2: ch3, turn, dc in all 8 sts across. - 8dc

3-22: Repeat row 2.

End off, leaving a tail long enough to sew the band together at the ends.

With main colour

1: Join yarn anywhere on the side of the band, ch2, hdc evenly around the entire band for 53 stitches, join to the ch2. - 54hdc

2: ch4, dc into the same st, * ch2, sk3, sc in the next st, ch2, sk3(dc, ch1, dc, ch1, dc) into the next stitch *, repeat until you reach the end, dc and ch1 in the same space as the ch4, join to the 3rd ch of the ch4.

3: ch3, * (dc, ch1, dc, ch1, dc) into the next sc, ch2, sk both the ch2 and 1dc, sc I the next dc, ch2 *, repeat around, join to the ch3.

4: ch4, dc in the same space, ch2, * sk both the ch2 and 1dc, sc in the next dc, ch2, (dc, ch1, dc, ch1, dc) in the next sc, ch2 * repeat around, dc and ch1 in the same space as the ch4, join to the 3rd ch of the ch4.

5: Repeat round 3

6: ch4, dc in the same space, ch1, * sk both the ch2 and 1dc, sc in the next dc, ch1, (dc, ch1, dc, ch1, dc) in the next sc, ch1 * repeat around, dc and ch1 in the same space as the ch4, join to the 3rd ch of the ch4

7: ch3, hdc in the same space, ch1, * sk both the ch1 and 1dc, sc in the next dc, ch1, (hdc, ch1, hdc) in the next sc, ch1 * repeat around, join to the 2nd ch of the ch3.

8: ch1, * sc in the ch1 space between the next 2 hdcs, sc in the next sc *, repeat around, join to the ch1. -14sc

9: ch2, make a hdc2tg using the base of the starting ch as the first st, hdc2tg 6 more times, join to the ch2.

End off leaving a long enough tail to gather the last round of stitches and pull tight to close the gap. Weave in all ends.
