Morning all you beautiful people and welcome to day 8! We've just started the second week of patterns for this years Itty Bitty Giant Hat Drive. Are you following along ok? I'm plotting away crocheting all over the place! In the car, at parks, even in waiting rooms! So many people stop and ask what I'm doing, and of course, what better way of spreading the word about a fantastic cause :)
So today's beanie is almost a granny stitch, but not quite! Its cute, simple and fast and it works up so lovely in any colour.
You Will Need:
5mm hook
DK weight/8ply yarn
Sized to fit:
24-26 Weeks gestation.
Starting chains do not count as a stitch until round 5.
American crochet terms used throughout.
1: Into a magic loop, ch3, dc 10 times, join to the first dc - 10
2: Ch3, 2dc in each stitch around, join to first dc. - 20
3: Ch3, 2dc in the first stitch, dc in the next stitch, *2dc in the next stitch, dc in the next stitch*, repeat around, join to the first dc - 30
4: Ch3, 2dc in the first stitch, dc in the next 2 stitches, *2dc in the next stitch, dc in the next 2 stitches*, repeat around, join to the first dc - 40
5: Ch3, (dc, ch1, 2dc) in the same stitch as the ch, *skip 4 stitches, (2dc, ch1, 2dc) in the next stitch*, repeat around, join to the ch3. - 8 total (2dc, ch1, 2dc) clusters.
6: Ch3, (dc, ch1, 2dc) in the same stitch as the ch, *skip the next 4 dc’s and work (2dc, ch1, 2dc) in the space between the 4th and 5th dc*, repeat around, join to the ch3. - 8 total (2dc, ch1, 2dc) clusters.
7: Repeat round 6
8: Repeat round 6
9: Ch1, sc in each stitch and ch1 space around, join to the first sc. -40
End off, weave in tails.
Hat should measure 11cm (4.3 inches) in total height and 14.5cm (5.7 inches) across the brim
