8. Brook Preemie Beanie



Good morning lovelies! Well, today is day 8, and that means the start of week 2 for the Itty Bitty GIANT Hat Drive!!!  Wow we sure are powering through the month hey?

Today's hat is a sweet little quick crochet, that features a sweet little shell stitch, that's created by turning at the end of each round. Lovely as a solid or striped! An important thing to note with this pattern, is that because we're using stripes and turning the direction each round, to make sure your yarn is always on the wrong side when changing colours, if you change them without cutting and rejoining each round.

You Will Need:
DK Weight/8ply yarn
4mm hook

Sized To Fit:
36-38 Weeks Gestation

1: Into a magic ring, ch2, dc 9 times, join to the first dc -9dc

2: Ch3, dc in the same stitch, 2dc in each stitch around, join. -18dc

3: Ch3, dc in the same stitch, dc in the next stitch, *2dc in the next stitch, dc in the next stitch*, repeat around, join to the ch3. -27dc

4: Ch3, dc in the same stitch, dc in the next 2 stitches, *2dc in the next stitch, dc in the next 2 stitches*, repeat around, join to the ch3. -36dc

5:  Ch3, dc in the same stitch, dc in the next 3 stitches *2dc in the next stitch, dc in the next 3 stitches*, repeat around, join to the ch3. -45dc

Change colours

6: Ch3, 2dc in the same stitch, 2dc in the next stitch, sk2, sc in the next stitch, *2dc in the next stitch, 2dc in the next stitch, sk2, sc in the next stitch*, repeat around, join to the first dc.

From here on, alternate colours every round.

7: Ch3, turn, 2dc in the same stitch, 2dc in the next stitch (pay attention not to do these 2 stitches in the joining space, they should be in the last sc from the previous round), sk2, sc in the next stitch, *2dc in the next stitch, 2dc in the next stitch, sk2, sc in the next stitch*, repeat around, join to the first dc.

8-11 Repeat round 7

12. Ch1, sc in each stitch around, join to the first sc.

End off, weaving in all tails.

Alternate Colour Options
Change colours on rounds 8, 9 and 11.
