14. Skyla Beanie

Good morning all and a big hey to day 14!

Today's hat release is the Skyla beanie. Sized for a larger newborn (9-10lb) this hat is an absolute gem. It makes great use of colour to create a combination of wavy and straight lines. Also excellent for using up small pieces of yarn!

If you want to make this one smaller, go ahead and drop to a 3.5mm hook, or drop off one increase round. That will make it closer to 38 weeks, or a 5-6lb newborn.

This beanie is a little more challenging, and uses both triple crochets and double triples. But I've wrote out how to do these stitches for you, and once you have the swing of it, they are pretty easy.

  1. Very cute and easy! I do think if I ever make another, though, I might try substituting extended triples for the double triples. With the yarn I used and my tight stitches, the dtc's bulge a little. But it is still adorable! Thank you for the pattern!
