27. Hayden Newborn Beanie
Good morning lovelies and welcome to day 27!
Ohh I actually love the number 27! It's my birthday number (of course, that's back in May, but still!) I also LOVE today's pattern!
The Hayden Beanie, is a little unique, in that it's made bottom up! That's right, we make the band first. Now, I know that sometimes counting rows, especially lots of them, can be a right pain, but I use this handy page to keep track! Row Counter is an awesome and simple site, just input your number of rows needed and off you go! So much easier to keep track!
The Hayden Beanie
You Will Need:
DK Weight/8ply Yarn
4mm hook
Sized To Fit:
Newborn/Full Term 40 weeks.
Band:
1: Ch9, sc in the second chain from hook and each across - 8sc
2: Ch1, turn, sc in each stitch across using back loops only. - 8sc
3-49: Repeat row 2.
End off, leaving a long tail. Sew the back together at the ends, being careful not to twist.
The join will be the back of the beanie
Body
1: Attach yarn to one of the edge stitches of the band and ch1, sc in the end rows of the band for 52sc, then join to the first sc
2-5: Ch2, hdc in each stitch around, join to the ch2. -52sc
6: Ch2, hdc in the next 10 stitches, hdc2tg, *hdc in the next 11 stitches, hdc2tg*, repeat around, join to the ch2. - 48hdc
7: Ch2, hdc in the next 5 stitches, hdc2tg, *hdc in the next 6 stitches, hdc2tg*, repeat around, join to the ch2. -42hdc
8: Ch2, hdc in the next 4 stitches, hdc2tg, *hdc in the next 5 stitches, hdc2tg*, repeat around, join to the ch2. -36hdc
9: Ch2, hdc in the next 3 stitches, hdc2tg, *hdc in the next 4 stitches, hdc2tg*, repeat around, join to the ch2. - 30hdc
10: Ch2, hdc in the next 2 stitches, hdc2tg, *hdc in the next 3 stitches, hdc2tg*, repeat around, join to the ch2. - 24hdc
11: Ch2, hdc in the next stitch, hdc2tg, *hdc in the next 2 stitches, hdc2tg*, repeat around, join to the ch2. - 18hdc
12: Ch2, hdc2tg, *hdc in the next stitch, hdc2tg*, repeat around, join to the ch2. - 12hdc
13: Ch2, hdc2tg 5 times, hdc in the last stitch. -7hdc
Leave a long tail and end off. Use the tail to gather the opening closed and finish off, weaving in all tails.
Alternative Colour Optoins
Use a contrasting colour for the band only.
Alternate colours to make stripes on the body of the hat.
